CBW (Brazilian Wrestling Federation, formerly CBLA) was founded early 2001 by a group of first moving wrestlers in Brazil, lead by legendary Professor Pedro Gama Filho. Long-time friends Francis and Doca (oldest son of Pedro Gama Filho Sr.) joined this unique opportunity with passion and commitment.
To support wrestling evolution in Brazil, host training camps in Rio was just an idea. Evolved out of a productive brain-storming session to combine athletic training with cultural exposure it made sense to both Francis and Doca. Excellence in sports needs to take into consideration the athlete’s environment and lifestyle.
Rio Sports Tours did it. Since 2003, they have been providing custom tours that include everything from transportation to training sessions for foreigners interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling and other sports.
The first tour was a wrestling camp with Olympic Medalist Patricia Miranda held at the famous Universidade Gama Filho for young athletes inspired by her achievements and techniques.
Several successful tours later, Doca left Rio Sports Tours to focus exclusively on Brazilian Wrestling Federation and its next steps. Francis continued to lead Rio Sports Tours hosting multiple camps and hundreds of travelers at the Wonderful City of Rio.
Among those teams here are a few: Saulo Ribeiro, José Mario Esfiha, Alliance, BRA021, Behring Jiu-Jitsu, Franco-Behring (Sylvio Behring), Renato Tavares, Gracie Tijuca and multiple wrestling schools from Oregon in a co-partnership program with Brazilian Wrestling Federation.
In 2013, Francis had the opportunity to develop the UFC Experience in Brazil and many other sporting events.
Shifting a little bit, Rio Sports Tour now provides travel insights, sports related specific content always with an insider point of view.
Rio Sports Tour delivered a different experience compared to other “Jiu-Jitsu camps” offering top services to Alliance members in the city Rio de Janeiro.
From the moment I stepped out of the airport we felt welcomed and Francis was waiting with a air conditioned ride for us. Would definitely recommend training in Rio if you love BJJ as the experience is amazing.
Rio Sports Tour brought safety, professionalism and trouble free trip with 24/7 personal attention to my students while they are in Rio.
When me and my family decided to travel to Brazil, we didn't know what to expect, especially with all the negative publicity. However, after arriving our concerns were quickly relieved.
There is nothing I would have done differently. Once in a lifetime experience!
Everything went very smooth, it was well organized and the kids had a great time wrestling with Brazilians.
Rio Sports Tour is a great way to know the beauties of Rio de Janeiro, besides the wrestling activities.
